Enemies

Isaiah 54:17 ESV

No weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall refute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their vindication from me, declares the Lord.”

This verse falls to close to my heart because I remember a time when I was hurt in such a way that I don’t wish it on my worst enemy. Where a loved one forged so many tools of war against me and words that would destroy the weak at heart. These moments of despair caused me to question and also be weak at heart. Even in my faith. I had to remember Isaiah 54:17. That no weapon forged by anyone will hurt me cause God is protecting me and always with me. That no tongue either would or could ever hurt me. The lord will always protect and guard you. When I thought I was in a huge lonesome pickle, I realized that there were two types of enemies, spiritual and physical. Had to face the evil one and also the enemies of this world that is spiraling out of control. I've said it and will never wavier again as far as I did before He was always with me and still is till this day. I encourage you all to read Isaias 54.

Isaiah 54:17 Means

It tells us that no weapon formed against you or me can prosper. That's a very encouraging promise, in fact that many of us feel like the weapons formed against us are succeeding. At times I or we all feel defeated.

When approaching the Bible within its cultural, historical, and literary context we can apply it to our lives today.

Isaiah takes its name from its writer. Isaiah was married to a prophetess who bore him at least two sons. Isaiah prophesied from 739–681 BC to a nation that had turned a deaf ear to the Lord. Isaiah provides us with the most comprehensive prophetic picture of Jesus Christ in the entire Old Testament. Isaiah contains one of the clearest expressions of the gospel in all the Old Testament.

Isaiah 54: God is talking about how he will restore Israel—the wife of the Lord. He speaks to Israel as his wife. The scriptures leading up to Isaiah 54:17 are promises of prosperity, peace, and protection. The overarching theme is that God is our salvation, you and I can trust and not be afraid.

God is all-powerful and because he has already won the ultimate battle, we can trust he will protect us.

Today, Christians are persecuted worldwide. There are mass shootings and bombings. Many Christians are dragged from their homes and brutally tortured before being put to death. Many attacks include how the world perceives the church through the news, the media, your neighbor, your friends, and your family members. The enemy attacked or attacks you, and I, too. It could be Satan attacking our health, our children’s faith or health, or using slander against us. God our father promises it will not destroy us or hurt us. We will have to endure, but we will not be in chains. We may suffer a lot or a little, but it will subside, but not forever.

Isaiah 54:17 talks of God’s bride (his church) will not be destroyed. The almighty father who created everything also has the power to protect. He can promise that no weapon formed against us shall prosper. Any form of weapon that is raised against God’s people shall be destroyed.

Sometimes this means the Lord takes the weapon out of the hands of our enemies, or those that will look to harm us even those that are close to us. At times God will allow evil to strike us down but God will not that evil to prosper over but protect you. God the father takes all our blow and transforms then for his kingdom.

God will protect His people from anything and everything. All tongues that rise against you in judgment you shall condemn.

1: In a world that is spinning wildly out of control it’s comforting to know that God has promised to protect all of us. You and I may not be on the same border lines of war, but we all face the same adversary who intends to steal, kill, and destroy. All that is dear to you.

God is our refuge, our fortress and strong tower. He covers, and shields those who make him their refuge. God's presence—the anointing—is a kind of force field of protection making you unreachable. The same Holy force that allowed Daniel to survive the lions’ den (Daniel 6:16-22).

That same Holy protection belongs to each of us today, when we dwell in the Holy place of the Most High (Psalm 91:1). Even when disaster strikes, storms, wars, rage, and prayers seem unanswered—God will always win.

2: The Word covers us, so that no fiery dart of the evil one can penetrate your life. God desires to bless you, to surround you with goodwill, to always protect you. He does this with His Word.

As Christ-followers the Holy Spirit lives within us, we still must make sure we have our shield of faith in place when the devil aims a fiery dart at us. By knowing God’s Word intimately and standing on His Word.

The enemy will come knocking. Keep your heart fixed on God’s Word—we need to look to His promises instead of the situation. Take your seat in the refuge of the Most High and stay put! Hold your position even under pressure and the enemy shall flee (James 4:7).

Attach yourself to God. Get in His Word and declare it. Make it a priority to spend time with Him every day or even every minute. Let everything in your life revolve around your relationship with the almighty father.

  1. Christ-followers are sealed by God. The word sealed in the New Testament comes from a Greek word that means “to stamp with a private mark” in the interest of keeping something secret or protecting or preserving the sealed object.

Jesus bore the seal of God: “On him God the Father has placed his seal of approval”. Those who trust in Jesus, possess the seal of God, which is the Holy Spirit: “You also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promise of the Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession” (Ephesians 1:13-14).

There are five other passages in the Bible that refer to a “seal of God” or an object or person sealed by God (John 6:272 Timothy 2:19Revelation 6:9Revelation 7:2; and Revelation 9:4).

This means the enemy may try to harm us or destroy us, but we are ultimately saved in Christ.

Types of Enemies

At Iziahs' Keystone, we explore two main categories of enemies: physical enemies and spiritual enemies. Physical enemies can manifest in the form of challenges, obstacles, or even individuals who seek to harm us physically. On the other hand, spiritual enemies may include negative influences, doubts, or anything that hinders our spiritual journey.

Overcoming Enemies Within Families

One of the key themes we discuss at Iziahs' Keystone is how to overcome enemies within families. We believe that love for Jesus, unity in belief, and communication with God are essential in resolving conflicts and differences that may arise among family members due to spiritual beliefs.
